Vodka

Originating in Eastern Europe, Vodka stems from the Russian word 'voda' (or Polish 'woda') meaning water.
Both Russia and Poland lay claim to having distilled vodka as early as the 8th century; although it took until the 20th century for the western world to take notice, with the invention of the Moscow Mule.
Since then, vodka has become a staple ingredient of any bar, and vodka cocktails are almost as numerous as gin.
