Gin
Originally produced in Holland in the 16th century as a medicine, gin takes its name from the old French word 'genevre', meaning juniper, which was added to the medicine to make it more palatable.
Gin has evolved since then to become the staple ingredient of cocktails, including the world famous and enduring Martini ... and Gin & Tonic remains one of the most popular and refreshing drinks of today.
Classed as the quintessential British drink, individual producers of London Gin have guarded the ingredients of their recipes for over 300 years.
