What's On ... November

NOVEMBER - traditionally a time for fireworks and toffee apples ... and a distinct lack of customers.  However, November also brings four fabulous events to warm the cockles of your customers' hearts and encourage them through your doors ...

2 - 8 November - British Sausage Week

Start the month off with a banger that won't scare the kids or dogs!  In association with the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, who are hoping to raise £12,000 from the week, British Sausage Week celebrates the Nation's favourite and events are taking place throughout the UK.  For details of how you can celebrate British Sausage Week, see www.britishsausageweek.co.uk or www.cftrust.org.uk/help/nationalcampaigns/sausageweek/.

8 November - British Pudding Day

In the 17th Century, a French traveller wrote "Ah, what an excellent thing is an English Pudding!  It is manna that hits the palate of all sorts of people, better than that of the wilderness.  To come at pudding time is to come in the most lucky moment in the world!"  Four centuries on, there is a host of old traditional puddings from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to celebrate British Pudding Day.

14 - 21 November - Game's On, National Taste of Game

Now in its 5th year, BASC's Game's On celebrates the vast array of game on offer - from venison and wild boar to partridge, pheasant and pigeon through to the now rarely-offered hare and rabbit.  If your customers enjoy game, this is the week for you - recipes and details can be found on www.basc.org.uk/en/games-on.

30 November - St Andrew's Day

Although central to the dining calendar is Burns' Night (25 Jan), Scotland's Patron Saint gives another chance to celebrate the Scottish culture and cuisine.  Try Cullen Skink, Scottish Salmon and, of course, the obligatory Haggis ... if there's room, how about a Ceilidh band or traditional Scottish country dancers?
